Based on my findings there are three reasons why Winnie the Pooh was banned. One of them is based on the reason that one of the show's characters, Piglet, is a pig. To avoid offending Muslim co-workers Dudley Council is banning the display of Winnie the Pooh dolls. In Russia if you are wearing anything with Winnie the Pooh on it, it is punishable by law. When the Justice published the list of extremist materials on it was Winnie the Pooh. Another reason is that apparently Pooh Bear is a devil worshiper.
Winnie the Pooh is a great children's story. It teaches children to be nice and kind and not to judge people by there difference. It offers an example to children. Although it is fictional it still means a lot to children. Winnie the Pooh was designed to be more than just entertainment for its viewers. It has a meaning to everyone that watches it. The main character is kind and helpful to all of his friends which is a good example for children today.
What could be lost in this book being banned? It destroys an example for children to follow and a few of being nice to everyone. I don't understand how anyone could think that Winnie the Pooh is so bad that it needs to be banned. The reasons set for being banned are stupid and have no point. I think that banning a toy because it has a pig in it is way too over protecting everyone from getting hurt. It reminds me a little of the society in Fahrenheit 451. My main question is why do we think that we have to censor everything to keep people from getting hurt?
